Mobile Homes vs. Manufactured Homes
Many people think a Mobile Home and Manufactured Home are the same thing. In fact, a manufactured home and mobile home are defined differently. A mobile home was originally built prior to June 1976 and registered through the Department of Motor Vehicles. Homes built after June 1976 are registered through the Department of Housing & Community Development and must be 400 sq. ft. or larger. Manufactured Homes are also built to the HUD building codes which are more stringent than the building codes Mobile Homes were built to.
